Who We Are!

Edgeworth Elementary is on Meadow Lane in Sewickley, PA. It was renovated in 2006. We have about 420 students in our school in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade

Sidewalks branch off from Edgeworth, leading to various wonderful places, including the central part of the neighboring town of Sewickley, or "The Village." Sparkling shops line the streets, and it is a safe environment for kids to walk to after school. Children love visiting the candy shop, comic store, toy shops, and confectionery. It is a wonderful compliment to our school of Edgeworth.

The pictures below are some of the ways we recycle in our school. The first way that we recycle is our paper in bins like this blue one.

The next way is in the art room we recycle scrap paper and newspaper.

Another way we recycle is in fourth grade when we do the electric house project. We recycle the card board and light circuits as you see in the pictures below.

What do we recycle?

  • Paper, there are bins in each classroom to throw used paper in and in the art room there is a scrap paper bin.

  • Plastics, in the cafeteria such as bottles and milk cartons.

  • We compost uneaten food in the cafeteria.

  • We use rechargeable batteries for our digital cameras, flip cameras, and video cameras.

How do we motivate our peers to recycle?

  • Announcements: Each day our school has morning announcements to give students a heads-up on our schedule. So from time to time we persuade our students to recycle.

  • Contests: Our school will have different contests and fundraisers that are recycling related.

  • Speeches: We place recycling bins in classes and other places while giving strong speeches, presentations and other motivating talks.
